Abstract

398,291. Ladders. DEGG, A. J., 3, Anson Street, Rugeley, Staffordshire. May 20, 1932, No. 14324. [Class 20 (ii).] An adjustable fitting for enabling ladders to stand upon uneven surfaces consists of a sliding strut a operated by an eccentric disc c rotatably mounted on a bolt c<1> in the side of the ladder and engaging a circular housing in the strut. The circular housing d is provided with internal teeth d<1> adapted to be engaged automatically by a gravity actuated pawl e loosely mounted on the securing bolt c<1> at the rear of the eccentric with relation to which it has limited oscillatory movement. The eccentric is provided with a handle or knobs whereby it may be rotated.
