Abstract

398,195. Moulding blocks, tiles, &c. in endless-chain moulding-machines. CRAIG, D., (Representative of WALKER, F. T.), 3, Hartshead, Sheffield. March 1, 1932, No. 6208. [Class 87 (ii).] Apparatus for moulding slabs, blocks, tiles, and the like comprises an endless chain of moulds 29 which first pass through a charging hopper 37 their contents being initially compressed and strickled by the projecting rear edge 40, thence under a spring-mounted tamping-plate 41 actuated by eccentrics 45, and finally under a screw-adjustable pressing- roller 15 rotating in contact with the material in a direction opposed to the travel of the moulds. Pallets rest on pins 31 in the moulds, Fig. 4, and are raised by ejecting-pins 33 when inclined shoes 35 contact with fixed inclines 36, thus ejecting the moulded articles for removal by hand. The shoes 35 are provided with springs adapted to return the pins 33 and pallets to normal position on disengagement of the shoes from the inclines 36. The pins move in bushes 34 screw-threaded into the base of the mould. The roller 15 is driven by a chain 21 tensioned by a counter-weighted jockey pulley 24.
