The extinguishing chambe: shown comprises ar inner cylinder a of hard paper and an outer insulator b of ceramic material. A hood f, in which the movable contact rod e is guided, and a base c, carrying the fixed contact d, are rigidly connected with the cylinder a. The pressure set up on switching is taken up exclusively by the cylinder a which is connected to the external insulator b by means of an elastic corrugated metal tube i and a connection h, which may also be elastic.
