Abstract

397,886. Spray - producers. B. E. N. PATENTS, Ltd. and ELWESS, E., 92, Tottenham Court Road, London. Feb. 22, 1932, No. 5257. [Class 69 (iii).] In a pneumatic paint &c. sprayer of the kind in which the spraying nozzle is formed of inner and outer members adapted to produce a fanshaped spray and in which the nozzle is rotatively adjustable to vary the plane of the spray, the outer air nozzle e has a conical opening in the periphery of which are formed two diametrically opposed V-slots e<1> arranged to deliver air on an inverted conical deflector e<10> on the end of the paint nozzle e<1> which is provided with a bore regulated by a needle valve e<5>. Means for extracting moisture from the air is provided in the handle a<1>, comprising a closed inlet tube b having air delivery openings b<2> and inclined baffles b<3> which direct the air against the inside surface of the handle on which liquid condenses and may be discharged by a cock b<6>. In order that the apparatus may be used for paint of different viscosities a portion of the dried air is led through passages a<2> past a regulating valve c<5> to the tube c and thence through a filter d<5> to the receptacle d. The main air valve h is controlled by a trigger k against the action of a regulable spring h<7>. The same trigger operates the needle valve e<5> of the paint nozzle through the medium of a link k<2> pivoted at k<3> to the trigger K, while at the other end it has a bent portion fixed by an adjusting screw k<5> to a thimble k<6> attached to the valve rod e<5>. The valve rod is carried on a guide sleeve e<13> sliding in a bush h<11> against the action of a spring e<14>. A screw k<7> locks the needle valve in its adjusted position.
