[Class 111.1 Air or gas is supplied in finely divided state to sewage or other liquid in a tank through stone or other porous elements 2 or perforated plates, each of which is separately fixed with rubber, asbestos or other joint-making material 4 by screws or bolts in a tray 1, which rests on the bottom of the tank. The screws 7 may bear directly against the porous elements as shown in Fig. 7, or the elements may be provided with metal or concrete frames 3, Fig. 1, having recesses to receive the screws. As shown in Fig. 5, the frames fit against a suitably inclined portion of the tray. The elements may be formed by the setting of suitable material within the frames having a section such that the elements are keved in the frames. The trays 1 may be slightly spaced from the floor of the tank by ribs 9. The gas may be supplied to the tray beneath the porous elements by a vertical pipe connected to one of the crosspieces which separate and support adjacent elements in the tray. This pipe will serve for lifting the tray from the tank. Fig. 10 shows a tray made partly of metal 1 and partly of concrete 1<x>.
