Abstract

397,736. Fountain pens. CHELAZZI, M., 2, Piazza Verdi, and FRULLI, D., 8A, Via della Liberta, both in Genoa, Italy. Dec. 9, 1932, No. 35024. Convention date, Dec. 9,1931. [Class 146 (iii).] A fountain pen is provided with two units, each comprising a nib section C, Fig. 1, a collapsable sac D for self-filling purposes, and a rigid sheath E for the sac, and the sheaths E are provided with oppositely - directed helical grooves co-operating with corresponding grooves crossing one another in the outer shell, so that by rotating the shell relatively to the units one is projected and the other retracted. The shell may be formed of two relatively rotatable parts A, Beach provided with the helical grooves and arranged to engage with the grooves F, G on each sheath E, the grooves F, G being oppositely directed and arranged at opposite ends of the two sheaths. The sheaths are of semicircular cross section so as to prevent rotation with the shell parts. Rotation of the shell parts in opposite directions results in the reciprocation of the pen units. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the shell is formed in one section with the crossing grooves and the two units are formed with one set of grooves each. The units are separated by a strip J actuated by a rotatable operating-head H in the rear end of the barrel.
