Abstract

397,628. Mine-roof supports. ATKINSON, F. S., Bow House, Hatfield, near Doncaster. June 1, 1932, Nos. 15533 and 16374. [Class 20 (ii).] Mine-roof supports of the kind which extend between the sides of the roadway up to a centrepiece disposed axially of the roadway, have their upper end accommodated within jointboxes 2 which prevent lateral movement. The boxes are formed of channel section members, and are spaced apart by bars 7, passing through slots in the boxes, keys 9 preventing relative movement. The supports 1 may be pivoted to the joint-box, a bearing member 10 being provided to take the thrust, or alternatively the ends of the supports may be loose and abut on the spacers 7.
