Abstract
397,495. Looms with stationary weft supplies. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd., 22, Hanover Square, London, and POOL, W., c/o British Celanese, Ltd., Spondon, near Derby. Feb. 22, 1932, No. 5296. Addition to 372,374. [Class 142 (ii).] The loop-forming and weft-cutting apparatus described in the parent Specification is provided with a guard 30, Figs. 1 and 2, which extends between the cutting device 31 and the trapping means and keeps the free end of weft, extending from the trapping means after cutting, separate from the weft in a successive loop under formation. The loop limb 21 to be severed is led to the cutting device by a hook 25, mounted in advance of the trapping means on the disc 18, Fig. 2, and on closure of the trappers 17 the adjacent loop limb 27 is moved clear of the cutting means to the upper side of the guard 30. The hook 25 is formed with an inclined horn 28, Fig. 4, so that the tension of the yarn during the loop-forming operation causes the weft to move from the point A to its final position B. Velvet, fur or like material may be provided on the inside of the guard 30 to resist untwisting of the free end of the thread. Specification 381,958 is referred to.
