Abstract

396,758. Circular looms. JALOUSTRE, L. A., 117, Rue St-Lazare, Paris. Feb. 11, 1932, No. 25569/31. [Classes 142 (ii) and 142 (iii).] A warp feeler member 22 pivotally hung from and in front of a circular loom shuttle is moved inwards against the action of a light spring 30 by jammed warps &c. thereby operating a push rod 28 controlling a member 37 of a latch mechanism described in Specification 396,757 for stopping relative movement between the shuttles and the warp. The member 22 has two pairs of warp-guiding wings 23, 24 and is connected by horizontal parts 26, 27 to a vertical rod 25 fixed to the push rod and sliding freely in a slot formed by a divided member 29. This carries the spring 30, which is hooked over a link 32 pivoted to the member 29 and the push rod, so as to bear most of the weight of the push rod and feeler. The push rod may be guided by an open bearing in a member 35 and by a loose bearing 36. This may be replaced by an open bearing and a further link be provided whereby the push rod may be entirely suspended. The weft spool is clipped to the shuttle and may be provided with a weft unwinding device as described in Specification 396,755. The weft is guided to a guide 41 for laying it at the fell of the cloth, the edge of the lower boat-shaped part of the shuttle beating up the weft. The shuttle may be used in a circular loom with rotating shuttles, or in one wherein they are normally stationary and are held in position by rotating vane wheels 15 engaging recesses therein and by a disc 20 and co-operating rollers, operation of the latch mechanism causing the shuttles and warp to be clutched and moved together as described in Specification 396,757. The Provisional Specification describes the shedding of the warp threads by means of a reed and co-operating cam discs which press on the warp threads, the reed being so constructed that certain warp threads have restricted movement along the reed spaces, whilst the others are permitted to have little or no movement. It also describes the manner of supporting the warp beams &c.
