Abstract

396,754. Aircraft gun-mountings. GROSSU, M., Strada General Dragalina, Villa Badesco, Brasov, Rumania. Jan. 5, 1933, No. 400. Convention date, Feb. 11, 1932. [Class 92 (i).] An aircraft gun-mounting is provided with means for balancing the gun by the gunner and his seat in combination with means for balancing the wind pressure on the gun by a component of the weight of the gun. The gun (or guns) is trainably mounted on a pivot 10 on an arcuate member 9 fulcrumed at 7, 8 on the centre of a frame 3, which is pivoted at its rear end by a hinge 4 on a horizontal rotatable ring 1 and is supported at its front end by a roller 6 riding in an inclined track 5, so that when the ring 1 is turned the weight of the gun opposes lateral wind pressure thereon. To the rear ends of the member 9 at the points 13, 14 is pivoted bars 11, 12, the lower ends of which carry the seat 15 and are pivoted at 18, 19 to a slide guided by vertical posts 20, 21 depending from the ring 1. The points 13, 14 of the arcuate lever member 9 are adjustable to make the gunner and' his seat balance the gun at the other end of the member. The bars 11, 12 are adjustable in length for the stature of the gunner. The inclination of the pivot 10 is also adjustable relatively to the member 9. A parachute 24 may be attached to the seat 15, which may then be fixed to the bars 11, 12 in a second position clearing the cockpit. The rotation of the ring 1 is performed by the action of the gunner's feet on a fixed structure comprising tubular rings 25 and posts 26.
