Abstract

396,423. Refrigerating. ALLYNE, E. E., 15700, South Moreland Boulevard, Shaker Heights, Ohio, U.S.A. Jan. 29, 1932, No. 2760. [Class 29.] Absorption machines. -In a machine working on the reversing system a rectifier element between the generatorabsorber 22 and the condenser 39 immersed in a water tank 44 comprises pipes 31, Fig. 5, extending across the water tank beneath its cover 441 and having fins 77 depending into the water. The tank is a thin rectangular chamber extending substantially the full depth of a flue space behind storage and apparatus compartments 2, 3 of a refrigerator cabinet, and is provided with fins 47 at its lower end contacting wth fins 23 on a looped liquor circulation pipe 19 connected to the generator-absorber, so that it serves to cool the pipe. The generatorabsorber is arranged in a flue casing 41 leading to the rear flue space, and is connected to the rectifier by an expulsion pipe 24, 26, traps 27, 29 and a riser pipe 31a. A liquor return or drain pipe 48 extends from a sump in the evaporator 35, which is located at the top of the cabinet storage space, through a trap 50 to a point 53 in the gas return pipe 30 slightly above the normal level of liquor in the generator. Water is admitted to the tank through a valve controlled by a thermostat in the tank. An independent water pipe 78, Fig. 5, extends across the tank and has a fin 79 dipping into the tank water, and it is carried down the outside of the tank and along notches 80 in the fins 23 of the liquor circulation pipe 19 to cool the latter. Specifications 368,710 and 385,161 are referred to.
