Abstract

395,901. Flash-arresters for carburetters. EYSSARTIER, G., Villa Chardon Bleu, Rond-Point Deganne, Arcachon, Gironde, France. Sept. 27, 1932, No. 26859. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1931. [Class 7 (iii).] A device for preventing fire due to back fires from internal combustion engines comprises a chamber 1 which is fitted to the air inlet of the carburetter. The chamber is fitted with baffles 3, 4 which form pockets facing towards the carburetter and the free edges of which overlap or lie in the same vertical plane. The baffles are spaced sufficiently to ensure passage of the entire normal supply of air to the engine, even if rime &c., is deposited in the chamber. In modifications, additional baffles are arranged centrally of the chamber. The baffles may be perforated. British Specification 363,349 and French Specification 696,265 are referred to.
