Abstract

394,383. Folding-seats. PARTRIDGE, A. J., Rock Villa, Tredegar Road, Ebbw Vale, Monmouthshire. Dec. 24, 1931, Nos. 35730/31 and 17652/32. [Class 52 (ii).] A folding-chair comprises a fixed supporting member 6 to which the back 5 and the seat 7 are pivoted so that they can fold into the plane thereof. The member 6 forms rear legs 13 to which are pivoted two frameworks each comprising an upright 15 and a front leg 18 joined by cross members 16, 17. These frameworks are maintained in the extended position by the engagement of spring clips 20 carried by a front member 19, and by a hinged stay 23. The back is held in an inclined position by a strut made up of two hinged members 8, 9, one end of the strut being pivoted on the seat member, the other end engaging a projection 11 by a hook member 10, and adjustment of the inclination is obtained by means of the bolt 12 connecting the two hinged members of the strut. The various seat members move when folded to positions in parallel planes, the folded supporting structure being disposed between the seat and the back.
