393,665. Mangles and wringers. MURTON, E., Anchor Works, Keighley, Yorkshire. Aug. 19, 1932, No. 32055/31.. [Class 138 (ii).] A catch 4, Fig. 2, having a recessed portion 4b is pivoted at c to each end frame of the stationary frame A and when the mangle &c., which is fixed to the rotatable cross-shaft 2, is in the operative position the ends of another crossshaft 3 carried by the turnover frame are received in the recesses 4b and are supported by the catches. The shaft 3 projects beyond the side members of the turnover frame B but does not touch the stationary frame, as shown in Fig. 4. A cross-shaft 6 of the same length as the shaft 3 is secured to links 5 pivoted on the shaft 3 so that when the mangle &c. is in the operative position, on raising the shaft 6 the latter contacts with and raises both catches simultaneously to free the recesses 4b from the shaft 3. A counterbalancing spring 10 is connected to a cam 8 secured on the shaft 2 and arranged to have its maximum restoring effect when the mangle &c. is in its horizontal inoperative position.
