392,825. Radiators for motor vehicles. YACCO, S. A. F., 44, Avenue de la Grande ArmÚe, Paris. Oct. 25, 1932, No. 29866. Convention date, Aug. 23. [Class 29.] Shutters c for controlling the flow of air are moved to adjusted positions by a reversible electric motor e controlled through thermostats k<1>, k<2> in the water conduits. The shutter may consist of connected plates, the topmoat having nuts engaging screwed spindles i rotated by the motor-driven bevel gear h and the others having guide collars. The thermostats control switches j<1>, j<2> on the dashboard to energize relays l<1>, l<2> for starting, stopping, and reversing the motor, and a further switch actuated manually or automatically on starting the vehicle motor is provided for starting the motor to close the shutters while the engine is warming up. Another form of shutter described comprises a roller blind wound on a spring roller and adjusted by screw and nut mechanism. A stone guard is fitted in front of the shutter. Auxiliary hand-actuated gearing for rotating the screws may be provided, and a single thermostat may be employed.
