[Class 81 (ii).] Vibratory massage apparatus comprises an electromagnet with a fixed core and a movable core, the latter being rigidly connected with a hammer and acting as a circuit interrupter, and an adjustable anvil which receives the impact of the hammer at its inner end and carries an applicator at its outer end. A coil 1 acts on a fixed core 2 and movable core 3, the latter being mounted on a spindle 4 carrying a hammer 5 and platinum contact 6 at its ends and moving in a metal guide 7. An adjustable knob 8 is formed with a cylinder 9 which guides a spring-pressed plunger 10, the platinum point of which co-operates with the contact 6. The stroke of the plunger is limited by a plug 12. The knob 8 has a catch 14 adapted to engage .any one of a series of notches in an inclined helical recess, a spring 13 maintaining the contact, so that the plunger 10 can be adjusted to vary its time of contact with the point 6. Current is supplied to terminals 20, 22, the former being connected to the coil 1 and the latter to the spring 13, thereby to plunger 10. The other end of coil 1 is soldered at 21 to the guide 7. The hammer 5 is pushed back by a spring 15 and, during operation, strikes an anvil 16 adjustable by means of a plug 17 which is held by a spring-pressed plunger 18 engaging apertures in its head.
