<PICT:0391845/III/1> <PICT:0391845/III/2> <PICT:0391845/III/3> <PICT:0391845/III/4> Apparatus for spray-coating large objects comprises a chamber 15, Fig. 1, through which they are passed by a conveyer system, and provided with a number of spray nozzles 17, 18 through which the coating-material is projected the nozzles being angularly adjustable relatively to one another and to the article being coated. The doors 32, 33 of the chamber, which may be interconnected, are operated by stops on the conveyers 20, 34, and the supply of liquid to the nozzle may be stopped by the opening of the doors. The nozzles are fed by a continuously-driven pump 26 from a tank 24 into which excess liquid draining from the articles passes from drip trays 21, 36 through strainers 22, 23. The doors 32 are opened by links 76, Fig. 3, hinged at 32a, the other ends 75 of which are engaged by a sliding member 77 operated by a stop 34a on the conveyer. When in the open position the door is held by a latch 80a which is tripped by a finger on the conveyer to allow the door to close. The door 32 in its closed position holds a valve 60, Fig. 7, open against the action of a spring 63 by a stop 64. When the valve 60 is closed the liquid passes through a relief valve 66, Fig. 1. The nozzles 17, 18, which are connected to the circulating system by flexible pipes 98, are formed by tubes having elongated slots 17a, are suspended from a bracket 90 by adjustable links 91, Fig. 9, having perforated ends at right-angles to one another and carrying connecting members 92, 93 adjustably secured by screws 99 The end of the nozzle is provided with a large cylindrical portion 97 engaged by an annular clamp 95. The conveyer 35 which carries the article away from the chamber 15 may run at a higher speed than the conveyer 20.
