Abstract
<PICT:0391592/IV/1> <PICT:0391592/IV/2> Each of a number of artificial silk spinning nozzles arranged in a common coagulating vat is supplied with fresh upwardly flowing coagulating liquid which has been brought to the same temperature as that of the liquid already present in the vat. The liquid passes from the vicinity of each nozzle to an overflow device and is collected, regenerated, and again brought into circulation. As shown in the drawings, a vat a has a channel c on one side for running off waste, and an overflow channel d on the other side, separated from the vat by a sill e on which rest thread-guides g. Coagulating liquid flows from a feed pipe i through a pipe h and return pipe k to swan-neck outlets l from which it is delivered to pipes n and perforated delivery pipes o. The perforations in the pipes o increase in size from the point of connection with the pipes n outwards for ensuring an equal rate of flow of liquid to take place from each perforation. Each pipe o serves a number of spinning nozzles p, and the perforations preferably point downwards away from the sill e. The long path of the liquid in the pipes h, k, l, n ensures its delivery at the same temperature as that of the liquid already in the vat. Fresh liquid rises from the perforations of the pipes o and flows past each nozzle and then towards the sill e and overflow channel d.
