Abstract

391,018. Washing and wringing machines. COTTINGHAM, R. F., Enterprise Works, Digby Street, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. Sept. 9, 1932, No. 25104. [Class 138 (ii).] A washing-machine comprises a tub 2, stand 1, and bridge-piece 3 carrying the paddle 9, the tub being clamped between the bridgepiece and stand by bolts or straps 6. The paddle 9 is rotated by a detachable handle 11 and is also given a vertical reciprocating movement by a cam 12 as described in Specification 354,575. The bridge-piece 3 is of sheet metal provided with drainage holes, a cut-away front portion forming a ridge 14, and sockets 4 on its rear wall for detachable connection of a wringer 5. A modified bridge-piece, Fig. 4, has upstanding lugs 17 for carrying a wringer, slots 18 for the bolts 6, and depending ridges 20 for locating the bridge on the top of the tub. The machine may be dismounted and the parts packed inside the tub.
