[Class 75 (i).] In an atmospheric burner suitable for consuming liquid fuel and comprising an incandescent mantle 9, Fig. 1, and a mixing chamber 5 open at its bottom and fixed to a mixing pipe 3 surrounded by the mantle 9, the annular outlet 6 from the mixing chamber is covered with woven wire or metallic net 7 in order to obtain a fine atomization and uniform distribution of the fuel vapour. Fuel from a container is vaporized in a pipe 1 and issues from a nozzle 2 into a pipe 3 where it is mixed with air from pipes 4. the chamber 5 is supported from the pipe 3 by means of a spider 8 in the form of an annular ring having openings 10 such that the area of the passage through the spider is equal to or greater than the area of the passage through the net 7. The spider is supported by or made integral with a bushing 11 screwed on to the pipe 3 and is rigidly connected to or made integral with the bottom part 5<1> of the chamber 5. In a modification, Fig. 4, the member 5<1> is provided with inturned flanges forming the spider 8. In other modifications the spider is shown integral with both the bushing 11 and the upper part of the chamber 5. or integral with both the bushing 11 and the lower part 5<1> of the chamber 5.
