Abstract

390,344. Air douches. BAEGE, K., 234, Prenzlauerallee, Berlin. May 24, 1932, No. 14760. [Class 81 (ii).] In a hot-air face and hand drier having two nozzles, the nozzles are arranged in fixed relationship for rotation about a common horizontal axis, the longitudinal axes of the nozzles intersecting at a point beyond the nozzle extremities. The nozzles can thus be rotated about their common horizontal axes into a position suitable for drying either the face or the hands, which are subjected to two converging streams of hot air. As shown in Fig. 1, a shaft 8 mounted in bearings 5 on brackets 4 has secured thereto two motors 1 driving fans 3 to the casings of which are attached nozzles 2. The nozzles 2 are disposed at an angle of approximately 90‹ to each other and each contains a heating device. A handle 6 is secured to the shaft 8, and an arresting device 7 is provided for retaining the shaft in either of the two working positions. In a modification, only one motor and fan are provided and are mounted on a fixed bracket, the nozzles being connected by flexible tubes to the fan casing and carried by a bar fixed to the rotatable shaft 8. In a further modification employing one motor 1, Fig. 7, and two fans 3, the shaft 8 comprises a hollow tube carrying the fan casings and nozzles and also the casing and stator 13 of the motor, which are thus rotatable relatively to the rotor 14 of the motor, the shaft 16 and the fan blades 15.
