Jan. 20, 1932, No. 1724. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (iv).] A single-motion' group selector which has double-ended wipers the ends of which come into engagement with corresponding rows of terminals in turn is controlled numerically over a single bank of a marking switch which, dependent on a discriminating relay controlled from the preceding selecting stage, moves one or two steps for the first impulse to select a main group corresponding to the ends of the wipers to be used and thereafter advances two steps per impulse to positions corresponding to the groups of outlets in the selected main group. The discriminating relay may be controlled by a signal over the line circuit when the selector is seized, or it may be included in one of two routes of access to the selector. A preliminary rotation of the selector wipers through 180‹ takes place when necessary under the control of this relay. The scheme may be extended for the control of a selector in which it is necessary to make a preliminary selection from more than two main groups. A group selector with a common control circuit is described which is identical with that described in Specifications 378,585, (Figs. 9 and 10), and 378,586. Specification 388,173 is referred to.
