Abstract

388,736. Advertising. POLLOCK, M. B., 92, Madeley Road, London. June 29, 1931, No. 18733. [Class 3 (i).] In a model figure for use as an advertising toy or for display purposes and of the kind in which a hollow rigid model 1 of the head of the figure is provided with features moulded in a covering 2 of rubber or similar flexible material that is distortable to change the expression or appearance of the face by cords, bands or strings 3 passing through apertures in the rigid model, the cords or the like are attached to the covering by inserting and securing them in the flexible material of the covering. The invention is applicable to parts other than the head of the figure. The cords or the like are preferably formed of such inextensible material as webbing or catgut and are acted upon by manually or motor-driven cams 7 to distort the features. Pins 9 or other projections extend from the rigid model into the flexible covering to anchor those parts that are not required to move. In a modification, the cams act upon levers connected to the cords. In addition to the cords, the flexible covering may be manipulated by hooks, rods, pins or wedges, manually or mechanically operated from within the hollow model.
