Abstract

388,550. Accumulators. OLDHAM & SON, Ltd. and WILDE, W. D., 36, Hyde Road, Denton, near Manchester. Jan. 28, 1932, No. 2616. [Class 53.] An accumulator is provided with a gas exit consisting of a chamber 1 fixed to the lid of the battery and provided with two tubes 3, 4. The tube 3 communicates with the atmosphere through one of the walls of the battery, the tube 4 communicating with the interior of the battery. The end of the tube 4 is above the electrolyte in all positions of the accumulator and the end of the tube 3 is always above any liquid that may find its way into the chamber 1. Each cell of the accumulator may be fitted with a gas exit and also with a filling opening 5 in the side of the cell as described in Specification 380,561. The cells may be joined together by a false bottom 7 and by celluloid strips 8 as described in Specification 381,645, and they may be provided with contacts 11 as described in Specification 386,400. The lower parts of the cells may be of square or rectangular shape, the upper parts being of D-shape so that they form a circular top when joined together.
