Abstract
388,060. Pianofortes. MOOR, E., Mont PÚlerin-sur-Vevey, Switzerland. Aug. 13, 1931, No. 22850. [Class 88 (ii).] A device for producing tremolos in pianofortes comprises a system of levers connected with the keys and engaged or disengaged by a pedal or kneelever so as to bring rotary catches into or out of action. The hammer 10 is normally actuated from key 1 by a pushing member 3, lever 9 and rod 10a. Depression of a pedal 8 actuates levers 6 through a bell-crank 7 to draw the members 3 forward out of action, and at the same time to draw members 4 forward under arms 11 carried by the levers 9. Depression of a key 1 then carries the arm 11 into the path of a rotating catch 13 to produce the tremolo. Volume during tremolo may be controlled by another pedal moving the rotary shaft 12 transversely in guides. The shaft 12 may be rotated at a variable speed, and may be divided so that the tremolo may apply only to certain octaves. The members 4 may be fixed on the key-levers, in which case a stop, normally in position under the keys, is removed by the tremolo pedal, allowing the keys to be depressed more deeply so as to carry the members 4 into a higher position where they will actuate the arms 11. The invention may be applied to pianofortes with a double keyboard or with an octave coupling.
