Abstract
387,552. Drying tea. STROMGREN, S. and ALLM€NNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Võsteras, Sweden. April 26, 1932, No. 11969. [Class 34 (ii).] Air has part of its natural content of moisture removed, and is then circulated through the tea-withering space, being heated without further dehumidification between successive passages through the withering space. Preferably a portion ofthe used air is at the same time replaced by dehumidified air. In the form illustrated, withering lofts 1, 2, 3 are connected to air ducts 10, 11 provided with dampers 12, 13 through fans 4, 5, 6 and 7, 8, 9 adapted to blow the air in either direction. Part of the air escapes through an open damper, and the remainder passes to the transverse shaft 14, in which is situated the condenser 15 of a refrigerating system. If this does not supply sufficient heat, an additional heater may be provided, or outside air may be led in. Air to replace that discharged is drawn in through tubes 19 past the cooling pipes 22 of the refrigerating system, and is supplied to the air circuit by the tube 17 in which a fan 24 may be provided. A passage containing electrical heating elements or humidifying nozzles may be arranged side by side with the shaft 14, from which the circulating air may thus be shunted. Automatic regulators 26, 27 sensitive to dry or wet temperature or the difference between these may be situated in the shafts 10, 11.
