387,517. Gas-scrubbers. BURTON, A. H., Roundhay, Hill Top Road, Latchford Without, Warrington, Lancashire. Feb. 26, 1932, No. 5745. Drawings to Specification. [Class 55 (ii).] A filling for gas washers and scrubbers comprises wood coils in the form of helices or volutes made by winding steamed strips on mandrels or by means of cutting tools, the formed coils being baked so as to retain their shape. The material may be in varying degrees of fineness, the gases first passing amongst a coarser filling and then smaller or more closely wound coils ; a final scrubbing chamber containing if necessary winnowed horsehair incorporated in the coils may be added. Specifications 18649/02, [Class 55, Gas manufacture], 11526/03, [Class 1, Acids, alkalies, &c.], and 4085/04, [Class 90, Non-metallic elements], are referred to.
