Abstract

Jackets and covers.-In tyre-casings of the kind described in Specifications 6639/11 and 13507/12 comprising crossed oblique wire helices, short cores d of ductile, non-resilient material are inserted in the ends of the helices to enable them to be bent to correspond with the type of tyre edge desired. In a straight-edge tyre as shown in Fig. 2, the ends cf the helices a, b, enclosing the cores d, are bent around wire gauze bands f. Figs. 5 and 6 show the arrangement of the cores &c. for beaded-edge and wired-on tyres respectively. Each core may be formed as a staple to engage the ends of two adjacent helices.
