[Class 66.] In a blank for machine production of a paper bottle comprising a sector-shaped part 1, to constitute the neck of the bottle, and a rectilinear part 2 to form the body thereof, the two parts being arranged to be fed together into the forming machine with the rectilinear part substantially tangential to the other part at the feeding end thereof, the two parts of the blank are connected together at the feeding end 3 for a short distance along their converging edges, e.g. by adhesive or by an integral tongue. The parts 1, 2 of the blank are pasted as indicated by the dotted areas on Fig. 1. The blank is fed into a machine and wrapped around, e.g. upon a mandrel, to form a structure as shown in Fig. 4, the edges of the two portions of the blank being interlocked and the ends of the blanks overlapping as shown in Fig. 5 to break 'joint. To complete the bottle, softening liquid may be applied at the top and bottom 13, 14 and the top is then rolled over first to form a circular bead, then an oval-shaped bead, and is finally swaged to form a seating 7 for a closure disc. Longitudinal reinforcing ribs 15 are also formed in the upper part of the bottle. The bottom of the bottle is formed by inserting a disc with a depending flange the inside of which may be pasted, the bottom of the bottle being spun inwardly to wind in the extreme edge 9 with the upturned edge 10 of the flange of the bottom disc.
