Abstract

385,346. Induction relays. LANDIS ET GYR SOC. ANON., 1, Hofstrasse, Zug, Switzerland. Aug. 12, 1931, No. 22823. Convention date, Sept. 2, 1930. [Class 38 (v).] An induction relay which is operable in accordance with a particular frequency of current superimposed on the mains has a series resonant circuit 7 consisting of a condenser 9 and inductance 11 energized from the supply, the winding 11 being placed on the return limb 4 of a two-limbed core 1 in the air gap 5 of which is placed the induction disc 6. On one of the limbs 2 is placed a winding 12 inductively related to the winding 11 and tuned by a condenser 11 to the superimposed frequency, the second limb 3 being unwound. The interaction of the fluxes produced in windings 11, 12 cause the rotation of the disc when current of the predetermined frequency is superimposed on the mains. The relay may be employed in conjunction with switches, multiple-tariff meters, or electric clocks to perform operations therein in response to currents of a predetermined frequency superimposed on supply mains.
