Abstract
384,345. Portable turning apparatus ; polishing rolls. PHILLIPS, T. L., 29, Ysguthan Road, Aberavon, Port Talbot. June 20, 1931, No. 17875. [Class 83 (iii).] In turning and polishing the rolls of tinplate and like sheet mills in situ a cutting tool or stone is held between the rolls and a cross-bar forming part of the mill framework, by adjustable pointed set pins. In roll-polishing stones s are gripped between clamps K provided with wooden distance pieces F ; set pins G pointed at H give the necessary adjustable thrust between a cross-bar W on the framework and the rolls. For roll-turning a bar R, Fig. 7, provided with set pins P is used to force a cutting tool Y against the rolls.
