383,288. Photographic view-finders ; range-finders. ZœGEL, W., 2, Rontgenstrasse, Munich, Germany. May 1, 1931, No. 12919. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i).] A photographic view and range-finder comprises a sighting aperture or an optical system for view-finding and a focusing device comprising a transparent reflector through which the object is viewed by means of the finder, and a reflector whereby an image of the object is reflected on to the transparent reflector, one of the reflectors being movable and operatively connected to the focusing adjustment of the camera lens so that focusing may be effected by rendering the images coincident. As shown, the range-finder comprises a view-finder arm 1, 5, a second similar arm 8, 9, an eyepiece 2, a transparent reflector 3, and a movable reflecting prism 7 provided with a lever 11 pressed by a spring 12 against the bracket 14. Focusing of the camera lens 6 by rotation of the threaded ring 13 rocks the prism 7 through the engagement of the cam surface 18 with the rod 16 carrying the bracket 14. A coloured glass 4 is inserted in one arm of the range-finder. A modification for use in combination with a telephoto lens and an open aperture viewfinder is described.
