Abstract
381,729. Indicating balance of sporting implements. BLEBY, C. W., Cestria, Ledborough Lane, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. Oct. 20, 1931, No. 29095. [Class 97 (iii).] Apparatus for indicating the balance or leverage weights of tennis rackets and other sporting implements comprises in combination a bearing edge on which the racket may be balanced and a scale adapted to indicate the position of the centre of gravity of the racket with respect to the end of the handle. In the form shown, a strip-like wooden base formed in two sections A, A1, hinged together at A2, carries a bearing edge B secured to the outer end of the part A and a scale C. The wooden base may be replaced by a strip of metal or flexible material. In addition to, or in place of, the scale C1 indicating the position of the centre of gravity relative to the end of the handle, the strip may be provided with scales E, E1, E2 indicating, for rackets of given weights irrespective of their lengths, the leverage weights i.e. the pressures at the point on the racket handle supported by the forefinger when in play.
