Abstract
381,280. Animal traps. WILMKING, F., Gutersloh, Westphalia, Germany. Aug. 12, 1931, No. 22738. [Class 5 (i).] In a throw-over trap of the type wherein the spring-jaw is held in the set position by engagement with a projection or notch adjacent the pivoted end of a lever member, a notch or shoulder on the nose or unpivoted end of which engages an upstanding slotted part of, or staple-like member on, a pivoted bait platform, the nose or unpivoted end of the lever coacts during the setting of the trap with a member carried by the bait platform to bring the latter into the tilted position. A lever 5 pivoted at 9 is formed as shown ; in the set position, the notch 5c engages the spring-jaw 6 and the part 5h engages a staple 11 on the bait platform 7, pivoted at 8. During setting, the inclined part 5f of the nose end of the lever 5 engages the staple 11 to bring the platform 7 into the tilted position. A projection 5b on the lever 5 coacts with a member 10 to limit the upward turning of the lever and a wire 14 prevents downward tilting of the platform 7. In a modification, the bait platform is of metal bent to form an upstanding part which replaces the staple of Fig. 3.
