Abstract

381,157. Electric traction systems. ROUG•, R., 123, Rue de la. Pompe, Paris. June 24, 1931, No. 18254. Convention date, June 25, 1930. [Class 79 (iii).] The electric motor 1 of an electrically propelled vehicle draws its current alternatively from a number of overhead wires 32, or from a generator 4, 5 or battery mounted on the vehicle, the latter being used where the line supply is not available. A switch 10 enables the driver to connect the motor to either source. The earth conductor may consist of metal bars or trellis work 33a embedded in the road flush with the surface, so that wires 36 embedded in the tyres are always in contact therewith. When the vehicle is to run on its own power, the trolley 7, 8 is lowered by means of an electric motor 18, differential gear 26, 27, 28, and a toothed segment 24.
