Abstract
380,685. Tunnelling. EHRENFEUCHT, G. WERNER-, 4, Kaiserdamm Charlottenburg, Berlin. Jan. 13, 1932, No. 1075. [Class 85.] In a shield-driven tunnel with outer and inner linings b, e, and an interposed insulating layer of cardboard &c. g, a ring of outer lining is laid each time the shield a is driven forward by the length of one ring, a supporting structure c is then advanced by hydraulic &c. rams bearing against the inner lining to expose a rear ring of outer lining, the insulating layer is applied to this ring, and a ring of inner lining is then built of concrete, brickwork, &c. A ring h of the insulating layer is left exposed to allow an overlapping joint to be made. The structure c comprises a metal ring strengthened by front and rear annular girders and having oppositely acting rams &c. i, k arranged alternately, the rams i acting against the inner lining to advance the structure and the rams k effecting advance of the shield. For the erection of the outer lining, a ring n is temporarily secured in the shield and has ledges p on which flanged girders m are then supported, the girders being bolted to the girders of a preceding ring of lining; the space between the girders is then filled in with concrete or pre-formed slabs. The ring n may then be temporarily fixed to the structure c to form a packing ring while cement &c. is introduced outside the outer lining.
