[Classes 136 (ii) and 136 (iii).] A rocking horse 1, Fig. 1, chair, &c. capable o f forward progression is provided with h rockers 2, and d a crutch member 3 pivoted thereto so that during part of its motion it swings on the crutch member while on further tilting the crutch moves into a new position by means of a spring, by means actuated by the rider or by gravity or by a combination of these. The crutch 3 is provided with a flat sole 8 adapted to bear on the ground during the swinging motion and hold the crutch vertical and motionless. A roller 6 is provided to reduce friction when moving over the ground. Springs 25 may be provided to act as shock-absorbers. The rockers may be of the form shown in Fig. 8 in which the middle parts 18, 18<1> form an arc of a circle of larger radius than the parts 19, 19<1>, and the ends are provided with stops 20, 20<1>. In order to steer the apparatus the sole 8 of the crutch, Fig. 9, is mounted on a vertical axle passing through a plate 22 and provided at its upper part with a lever 23 acted on by cords 24 operated by the rider.
