380,319. Cigarette-making machines. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINENFABRIK J. C. MULLER & CO., 48, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Dec. 19, 1931, No. 35175. Convention date, June 9. [Class 130.] A rod of tobacco 9 formed in a trough 2 is conveyed under a pressing-wheel 8 and on to a table 10 at one side or other of a wall 13, which is reciprocated to and fro across the table and formed with a cutting-edgewhich severs a length of the rod, the wall then moving the cut-off length into one or other of moulds 24, 26 and 25, 27 at opposite sides of the table. A plunger 30 is then reciprocated to push the moulded length into a cigarette tube threaded on a spoon 36. The cutting-edge of the wall 13 co-operates with fixed knives arranged on the edge of the table 10, one at each side of the central position of the wall. This wall is reciprocated by a lever 16 having pin-and-slot connections 17, 18 to the guides 14 of the wall and to a crank disc 20 respectively. The lower halves 24, 25-of the-moulds are fixed at the table level, and the upper halves 26, 27 are reciprocated by rods 28 and eccentrics 29. The plungers 30 are actuated by crank discs 33 and rods 34, and the cigarette tubes are pushed on to the spoons 36 from revolving drums 37.
