Abstract

380,165. Dynamo - electric machine casings. MEREDITH, A., 40, Littlemoor Crescent, Newbold, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. June 20, 1931, No. 17917. [Class 35.] The periphery of the tubular part 7 of a circular cover 8 of a flame-proof casing of a dynamo-electric machine is provided with a series of separated projections 9 adapted to pass between a series of similar projections 5 on the interior of the casing, so that on subsequent rotation the cover is held in position in the manner of a bavonet joint. The part 7 of the cover co-operates with a continuous ring 6 on the casing to give a flame-proof joint with sufficient clearance to provide a vent, and the co-operating surfaces are roughened or serrated. When the cover is in position, pins 19 are passed through the casing and cover and are padlocked to a lug 20 on the cover. One of the pins is so formed as to be removable only through a specially shaped slot (not shown) thus ensuring a partial rotation of the cover to operate a switch to break the electrical connections before the cover is removed. Stops are provided to prevent the cover being turned too far, or in the wrong direction.
