[Class 81 (ii).] An elastic band 5 is applied under tension to the part 2 of a denture which lies between the gums and the cheeks and lips, so as to fit closely against the external side of the gums and thus secure the denture in place. The elastic rubber band is applied to a vulcanite denture after vulcanization but whilst it is still warm and soft. Vulcanite or metal extensionpieces may be formed on the denture to grip the jaws, and the ends of the tensioned band may be secured thereto. The band may be extended to form a partial, or complete lining for the denture. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes and shows on the drawings a construction wherein a metal plate having a serrated edge is positioned between the vulcanite denture and the soft rubber lining thereof and said plate carries the stretched elastic band which is threaded between the .serrations. Extension pieces are formed at the ends of the metal plate and may be slit to hold the elastic band, or may have their edges bent over the elastic band to hold the same under tension. The soft rubber lining may extend over the whole surface of the metal plate or may be applied as separate cushions or pads. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
