[Classes 106 (v) and 116.] In portable apparatus for delivering measured quantities of lubricating oil or other liquid of the kind comprising a vessel 1 adapted to be charged through a check valve 6 and from which the liquid is discharged by air pressure or a spring piston through a discharge valve 15 actuated by a trigger 18 situated adjacent to a hand grip 5, the vessel is provided with a valved inlet nozzle 2 adapted to open the discharge valve 10 of a storage tank 9 in which the liquid is stored under pressure, when directly thrust against it by the operator. The inlet nozzle 2 is provided with the spring- pressed ball check valve 6 and a bell-mouthed portion 7 formed on a sleeve 11 mounted to slide on a fixed tubular part 12 of the nozzle and adapted to be pressed against a spherical nozzle 8 on the storage tank 9. The sleeve 11 is pressed outwards by a spring 13 and the fixed tube 12 is provided with a pin 14 adapted to force the spring-pressed ball valve 10 off its seat and permit oil to flow into the measuring vessel, compressing air in the graduated glass dome 4. The vessel is then removed from the storage tank, the valves 6, 10 closing, and the delivery nozzle 3 applied to the engine or other place of use so that when the delivery valve 15 is opened against a spring 16 by the trigger 18 and a Bowden cable 17 the liquid is forcibly delivered. The handle 5 is of the pistol type so that the apparatus can be manipulated with one hand. Instead of the air dome 4 a spring piston may be used as a power accumulator and may slide in a graduated glass cylinder. The inlet valve may also serve as the discharge valve, being connected to the trigger by Bowden cable.
