Abstract

The activity of vaccines is preserved by mingling a bacterial extract with a fatty substance to which an antiseptic has first been added, the action of the fatty substance on the antiseptic being such that the activity of the antigenes is unaffected. Examples describe the preparation of pomade vaccines comprising (1) an extract of staphylococcus combined with lanoline to which synthetic camphor has been added; (2) an extract of staphylococcus, streptococcus enterococcus, pseudodiphtheri and pyocyaneus bacteria, combined with lanoline to which thymol has been added; and (3) mixed cultures of the bacteria of the genito-urinary organs killed by age, combined with a mixture of glycerine and gelatine and a fatty substance to which essence of rosemary has been added.
