May 6, 1931, No. 13442. [Class 40 (iii).] A scanning system comprises a single light aperture 4, Fig. 1, a mirror wheel MW and a plurality of mirrors M1, M2, M3, arranged to produce a plurality of simultaneously operative scanning beams each associated with one zone of the object P, the aperture 4 passing a beam sufficient to illuminate a plurality of mirrors on the wheel MW. According to a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the aperture 4 illuminates only one of the mirrors of the wheel MW and the mirrors M1, M2, M3 are arranged side by side. To segregate the picture signals, an image of the object P is produced by a parabolic reflector, the image falling on three mirrors inclined so that light from each mirror falls on a different light sensitive cell. Alternatively, three parabolic reflectors, each associated with one of the zones of the object, may each illuminate a different cell. At the receiver three light sources energized over different channels are used, illuminating either one mirror or separate mirrors of the mirror wheel n accordance with the transmitter.
