Abstract

377,763. Valve modulating circuits. ECKERSLEY, P. P., 82, Swan Court, Chelsea, London. May 6, 1931, No. 13418. [Class 40 (v).] A plate-circuit modulating system comprises an impedance R in the plate circuit of the microphone-controlled modulating-valve M and a voltage-reducing variable resistance r in the plate circuit of the oscillation generator G, the varying plate voltage of the modulator being transferred to the generator plate through a blocking condenser C. The impedance R is preferably a resistance, but may be a choke coil, Fig. 3 (not shown). The normal plate voltage of the oscillator is less than that of the modulator and is adjusted by varying the resistance r to a value equal to the peak alternating voltage from the modulator so that 100 per cent modulation can be attained.
