Abstract

376,769. Magnetic tests. SPERRY PRODUCTS, Inc., Manhattan Bridge Plaza, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Drake, H. C. ; 65, Lincoln Boulevard, Hempstead, Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) March 13, 1931, No. 3113/32. Convention date, March 18, 1930. Divided on 374,172. [Class 37.] Electromagnetic rail flaw detector apparatus carried on a trolley is provided with a generator supplying current to contact brushes engaging the rail, fluid pressure mechanism being provided for actuating the brushes and holding them in contact with the rail. The fluid pressure apparatus 60, 61 may be double-acting to permit withdrawing the brushes, the piston 62 being pivotally connected at 63 to the brush carriage 11. The brushes are pivotally mounted and are connected by springs 56. A valve 65 connected in parallel with the controls 66, 66<1> may be operated by the driver or test operator.
