Abstract

376,494. Trolley poles for electric vehicles. BRECKNELL, WILLIS, & CO., Ltd., 59, Victoria Street, Bristol, and WILLIS, A. M., Sunnyhill House, Shirehampton, near Bristol. July 6, 1931, No. 19455. [Class 104 (iii).] In a swivelling trolley pole for electric vehicles, the lever tube 1 of the pole is made longer than usual to reduce weight, and two parallel tension springs 4 are connected to a crosshead 3 near the end of the tube, and to a crosshead 5 having a pivotal point 6 connected to a saddle 7 pivoted to the base 8<1>. The springs 4 are adjusted by means of threaded rods 12 passing through the crosshead 5. Buffer springs 13 are arranged between the crosshead 5 and collars 14 on the rods 12. The fork 7 has roller bearings 9 on the body 8<1>, the tube 1 has roller bearings 11, and the springs 4 swing about roller bearings 10 in the crosshead 3.
