Abstract

376,359. Table ball games. SCHICHTL, C. and SCHICHTL, L., 63, Rosendale Road, Dulwich, London. April 10, 1931, No. 10636. [Class 132 (ii).] Apparatus for a table ball game comprises a lever 11 controlled by the spring 16 and supported by the bracket 15, having integral with it the starting cup 14 for holding the ball 13. The cup is adjustable to vary the direction of propulsion of the ball the velocity imparted to which can be varied according to the extent the lever 11 is pulled back against the action of the spring 16, the ball passing along the runway 12 and up the ramp 17 to be thrown into the air over the gap 18 to fall through one of the apertures 19, 20, 21 into one of the pockets 22, 23, 24. From the pockets 22, 23, 24 the ball passes to one of the shoots 28, 29, 30 pivoted at 31 and connected at their ends by cords 32, 33, 34 to balanced arms 35, 36, 37 loosely rotatable on the spindle 38 carrying the score-indicating disc 39. Normally the arms rest against stops 64, 65, 66 and the arms carry pawls 41, 42, 43 which, on pivotal movement of the shoots 28, 29, 30 due to a ball running down them, rotate the indicating disc 39 through varying angles determined by the brakes 47, 48, 49. The readings on the disc 39 are observed through an aperture 58 and the disc is retained in its rotated position by a pawl 59 during the return to normal position of the arms 35, 36, 37 and associated pawls 41, 42, 43. The scoring disc is returned to zero through the resetting cord 62 actuated by the ring 63. The shoots, at the end of their rotational movement, are positioned opposite holes 50, 51, 52 through which the balls fall into a shoot 54 leading to a return shoot 27, the balls on falling to the return shoot moving a pivoted metallic plate 55 to close the contact 56 of an electric lamp 57 which may be visible through the opening 58. If the strength of the shot or the direction of the travel of the ball be incorrect it will not enter one of the apertures 19, 20, 21 but will pass to the return shoot 27. Coin-freed mechanism of any known type may be used for releasing the balls.
