375,350. Fire-extinguishing c o m - positions ; pyrotechnic devices. WEDGER, W. L., Belmont Highlands, and EDMANDS, J. W., Newton Highlands, both in Massachusetts, U.S.A. March 19, 1931, No. 8459. Convention date, March 24, 1930. [Classes 9 (ii) and 47 (ii).] A composition for extinguishing chimney fires comprises potassium perchlorate, sulphur, and zinc duct. Ammonium chloride, magnesium carbonate, potassium bichromate, and wood pulp and paraffin preferably are added. The Specification as open to inspection unde:r Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a fusee in which the composition is employed. This consists of a tubular container 1 for the composition 16, and a handle 2. A friction lighting composition 12 is arranged in an opening 4 in the container, and a complementary lighting composition 11 is provided in a wooden plug 6 in a paper cap 5 that encloses the end of the container. The cap 5 is surrounded by a paper bonnet 7 in which a tearing strip 9 is incorporated. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
