Abstract

374,298. Corrugating paper. GOY, 0., 14, Wilhelmstrasse, Biberach-on-Riss, Germany. June 30, 1931, No. 18855. [Class 141.] In producing corrugated paper &c., a stiffening agent, such as waterglass or compositions thereof, mortar, or asphaltum, &c., is introduced into the paper and dries or hardens during or after the corrugation treatment to retain the corrugations in shape. The filler may be rolled, sprayed, or kneaded into the paper, or one constituent thereof, such as magnesium oxide, lime, or chalk, be so applied, and the other, such as waterglass, be added in liquid form. Subsequent heat and pressure assist the filler to penetrate the fibre, and light, steam, gas, or chemical agents are used to set the material. The filler may be applied between two webs of paper as above described or it may be strewn or blown in powdered form, or a separate film of the filler, alone or with paper, may be inserted between the webs.
