[Class 81 (ii).] In an air or other gas distributer for use in hair drying comprising a main air chest and a plurality of tubes pivoted thereto, said tubes being provided with holes for the discharge of the air or other gas, means are provided to control the supply of air or other gas to each tube independently. In a preferred form, as shown in the Figure, a tube a adapted for attachment to an existing drier terminates in a cylindrical box b pivoted in side cheeks of the cylindrical main air chest d. The angular movement of the box b is limited by a pin thereon sliding in a groove in the side cheeks. The air discharge tubes e provided with cylindrical air boxes e<2> are pivoted in covers g around the main air chest. The upper ends only of the covers are fixed to the air chest, the lower ends being held in position by a spring ring h, whereby a good frictional contact with the air boxes e<2> results. Each part is provided with one or more apertures so positioned that as the tubes e are raised, the air supply is gradually cut off. Insulating plugs e<4> are provided for facilitating the adjustment of the tubes. The bottom d<1> of the cheat may be perforated to coact with a pivoted perforated disc for the escape of air therethrough. If desired, the joint between the tubes and main air chest may be of the ball- and-socket type. In a modification, the air supply may be made independent of the position of the tubes by the use of valves in the tubes or air chest. If desired, the device may be made a single unit with the blower and heating elements.
